Ticket to Work

Ticket to Work logoThe SSI Coalition played a role in the development, passage, and implementation of the Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999, the most significant disability employment law since the ADA.

The law was designed to help people receiving disability benefits from Social Security find good jobs and achieve self-supporting futures while keeping their Medicare or Medicaid. The Social Security Administration’s voluntary program, the centerpiece of the law, was and remains open to working age adults who receive Social Security benefits due to a disability.

The Joyce Foundation and the Grand Victoria Foundation supported this work.
