I’m really excited to share our news – on October 26th we are launching our new name and identity, Smart Policy Works.
The name Smart Policy Works signifies our commitment to making policy work smarter, not harder. It is the culmination of 25 years of working with communities, social services and health providers, and government to break down barriers to health and well-being.
While we’ve had different names over the years – the Chicagoland SSI Coalition, the SSI Coalition for A Responsible Safety Net, and Health & Disability Advocates – the agency’s mission, vision and has been constant: We use our expertise to make programs work better and smarter for people, providers and payors.
We know people, problems and solutions, and moving forward we are leveraging our decades of experience to help organizations respond to the rapidly changing policy environment. We know the systems and supports that help people are very different than when we started our work 25 years ago. More people are insured now than at any time in the last 40 years, but access to care doesn’t mean people are getting what they need, especially medically and socially complex populations.
While our mission and vision are the same, the work we are doing is expanding. As Smart Policy Works, we are leveraging our expertise with organizations, health plans, and health systems to make sure people are getting the right care at the right time in the right place. We continue to use our expertise to empower communities because we know that affordable, quality health care and programs that promote economic security are what holds communities together and makes them strong.
We know our best work lays ahead, and I am so excited to have a great board, and team to lead us forward. We look forward to working with all of you over our next 25 years.
